But this kind of mischievous magic does not happen on its own... no, it was a small gnome, who was making a fool of Lady LovelyLocks and her friends. And every time he got away with it, he doubled up with laughter. But he went just a little too far, when he was laughing with the voice of Lady LovelyLocks and when he saw Maiden CurlyCrown laying on the grass, he laughed just a little too loud.
"What was that?" asked Maiden FairHair. She ran towards the rose bushes and found the small gnome, who was still doubled up with laughter.
"Listen!" said Maiden FairHair sternly. "Give Lady LovelyLocks her voice back, now!"
But the gnome only laughed louder and louder, until he saw ShiningGlory.
"Hello Smiley," said ShiningGlory.
"Hello ShiningGlory," said Smiley, the gnome, still with the voice of Lady LovelyLocks.
"Do you know each other?" asked Maiden CurlyCrown surprised.
"Yes, certainly," said ShiningGlory. "Smiley has been a friend of mine for years. He even saved my life once! Actually he's a very nice gnome, but he loves to play tricks. Well Smiley, it's been enough again for today, don't you think?"
The gnome agreed with a smile. With glittering eyes he blew a kiss to Lady LovelyLocks and then suddenly she had her voice back!
Together all of them went back to the castle of Lady LovelyLocks and there they had a delicious meal. After this morning's events they lazed away the afternoon in the garden, where Smiley told them the fantastic stories of his adventures. Also he promised never to play such tricks on them again, but for a gnome it is difficult to keep promises like that...
