One day Lady LovelyLocks went for a ride on her beautiful horse Silkymane. They rode through the kingdom, over the rolling hills, through the deep, green valleys and along the banks of coiling rivers. Beside her (or sometimes far ahead) ran Silkypup, who enthousiastically nosed through all the wonderful things she encountered, extensively.
Now in the kingdom of LovelyLocks there was a small forest known as the Hypnotizing Forest. This forest was called like this because it had something enchanting, something hypnotizing. Indeed, it was dangerous to enter that forest, for whoever did that, was hypnotized and wandered about, without ever finding the way out.
And exactly to this place lead Lady LovelyLocks' trip. She knew how dangerous this forest was, but poor Silkypup did not know that. Before Lady LovelyLocks could call her back, Silkypup had run after her nose into the Hypnotizing Forest.
"Oh dear," sighed Lady LovelyLocks and her heart was in her boots. She climbed down Silkymane's back and went as close to the forest as she dared to.
"Silkypup! Silkypup!" she called.
"Bowwowwow!" answered Silkypup, but Lady LovelyLocks saw her nowhere.
No matter how she called and called, the enchantment of the Hypnotizing Forest worked and Silkypup could not find the way out! She wandered about in endless circles.
Now Lady LovelyLocks knew that it was very dangerous to enter the Hypnotizing Forest herself. She had never heard that anyone, who had gone in, also got out again. But she loved Silkypup very much and she would never be able to return to the castle without her. So, without thinking longer, Lady LovelyLocks bravely climbed onto Silkymane and rode into the Hypnotizing Forest to save Silkypup.
To not to get lost, Lady LovelyLocks made sure to mark her path. In every third tree she passed, she scratched an X and on regular distances she stopped and made a pile of stones on the ground. She hoped that she would see her own trail this way and get out of the forest like that.
But the Hypnotizing Forest did not let itself be decieved so easily. As soon as Lady LovelyLocks had scratched an X in the tree, the bark of the tree began to grow over it. Before she was ready marking the next tree, the X on the first tree had grown close and become invisible.
The forest also let her pile of stones disappear while she continued. Because behind her the moss grew so quickly that no piece of rock remained uncovered! Already soon all stones could not be distinguished from the rest of the mossy ground.
"Bowwow!" barked Silkypup and already soon Lady LovelyLocks had found her. But now that there was no sign of the path she had taken, to be seen anymore, Lady LovelyLocks was also lost and together they rode around in large circles!
Trapped in the Hypnotizing Forest they kept riding around. As they went further and further without getting anywhere, they became tired and sleepy. And already soon they were overwhelmed with despair.
"What's to become of us?" thought Lady LovelyLocks. "No one will be able to find us here. Even if they'd guess that we're lost here, they still couldn't save us, but only ride around in circles together with us. Even ShiningGlory's magic probably can't free us here."
Lady LovelyLocks looked at the faces of Silkymane and Silkypup, and saw from their expressions that they too were tired and that the despair drained all energy from them. She became afraid, because she knew that they would be forever lost, if they could not shake the feeling of despair. When she realised that, Lady LovelyLocks had an idea.
She climbed down Silkymane's back and stood on the with moss covered ground. Then Lady LovelyLocks began to turn around, while Silkypup and Silkymane watched surprised. She ran around as fast as she could, until she was so dizzy that she could not stand upright anymore. With a soft bounce she fell down on the moss.
Lady LovelyLocks looked up. In her dizziness it seemed as if the whole world was turning around her. She looked in front of herself and there, right in that dazzling vortex, she saw a path that went through the Hypnotizing Forest!
This way Lady LovelyLocks withstood the enchantment of the forest. She took Silkymane by the bridles and Silkypup by the colar and lead them safely out of the forest!
It was wonderful to see the rest of the kingdom again and overjoyed they returned to the castle in the evening light.
