2008 will be Lady Lovely Locks’ 20th anniversary, and I think that it needs to be re-released just as strawberry shortcake and care bears were. I’m planning to write American Greetings on this subject. However I do not have enough support; it would bring me much pleasure if every one would support me and give me more points to put in the letter. Thank you all that have read this and hopefully we will have Lady return with all her glory.
I know that this topic has
I know that this topic has been dead for a while, but I just want to share my thoughts. I've noticed something terrible in new shows. They're all very vain. Barbie is always showing mixed messages of inner beautiy and outter beauty. What about those girls that dont look like barbie? It hurts me so much to hear a little girl say that she's fat or ugly. The Disney princesses claim inner beauty, but do any of them really show it? What I loved about Lady Lovelylocks was that one of the main lessons was that Raven waves was beautiful but had a black heart. Lady's magic didnt come from her hair as Raven waves thought, but from her kindness and love. She didnt claim inner beauty but showed it.
Media is telling girls of all ages that they have to be perfect image wise. And if you arnt, you are an outcast.
I think right now is when we need Lovely locks the most to share the message of real beauty to all those young girls. It's a lesson that others are trying to skip around because that's all they are, just like Raven Waves.
We need Lovelylocks right now.
You're mixing the audio play
You're mixing the audio play and cartoon here, really.
The audio play ventured quiete far from it's origins, really.
There are a lot of new charakters and so forth.
But what's more - it deepns the characters and their motives.
And I can't say the Duchess ever tries to cut the Ladys hair in the play. - And I should know, having been listing to it up an down all along since my childhood.
She's more ... powerhungry. That's the right word. She wants the power over the cuntry that's actually Lady LovelyLock's to rule.
Then there's Prince StrongHeart. She certainly wanted him. I suspect mainly because of the power wich she would gain by having hin for a husband. But there are some little scence which indicated that htere might be a portion of genuin eaffection somewhere.
But then again it isn't the kind of feeling that LLL has for StrongHeart for example.
It is selfish just as well. And it's manifestations are shown rather seldomly.
So, let's tie the lose end up:
The Duchess detests Lady LovelyLocks at irst, because she is an obstacle on her way to power.
Then she get's all the things the Duchess herself has ever wanted, without even trying to get it: she's regining the Country of light, she get's to marry Prince StrohHeart, she even get's his love!
We see only one backflash. StrongHeart is at frist zivil. Acting with comon courtesy. Later in that scene he rets to be asomewaht rude, as he speaksstraigth to the point. But we have no prove that he has ever been mean to her, or given her false hope. He doesn't seem the type for that. It wouldn't mach his personality at all. So whatever illusion Duchess RavenWaves ever entertained, it was purely her own.
Also note: she's wtrying everything. She tries to manipulate hi into marring her from the start: she sees to it that his family looses their fortune and his father his honour. Wich would make rather unatractive on the marriage-market. Beeing a prince, but a poor one, wth a father having dies in dishour.
So there she is., wanting his hand in marriage. It's puting hin in a situation where you'd think he'd have no option other than to marrie her. Or so I presume must have been the plan. But StrongHeart refuses. He will not be bought, neither with her beauty, nor her welth. He rejects her because ' She has a heart of stone' as he puts it.
Think about it. Thats rather brave. So he'll rather live in pverty than with a woman like that. Says everything about him, doesn't it?
Now, here lies the problem RavenWaves has with StrongHeart:
He rejected her. Yes. But not only that. He did it at a ball, propably with witnesses around. That must have been like he hit her strongly into the face.
Of course there must have been some petish, ill fated, selfish love - if one can call it like that - for him on her part there. But it withers rather fast here.
He will not be manipulated into exepting her. He will not be won like a trophy. And, worst of all: HE HURT HER PRIDE! Add to that that he actually tells her ome rather ugly truth about herself which she wouidn't like to hear, of course. Everyone else is a bady, nit her! Or at least that's what I think she must think....
So, that makes her differnt, doesn't it? She's not the dumped, poor little dear. She was a nasty little beast even back then.....
That makes so much more
That makes so much more sense. I guess I was trying to justify ravenwaves or figure out why she's so mean. I didn't know the inside since I've only heard a bit about the plays.
However, there has to be some reason why she's so nasty. people aren't born evil. something has to trigger it, whether it's in their minds or in their hearts.
Lady Lovely Locks!
Hello!! I have been looking for a site like this forever!! I am the ONLY person I could find who know who Lady Lovely Locks is!!! I loved her SO much as a little girl, and her show and dolls were part of the inspiration that helped me become an artist!!
I am a full time comic-book artist ( well, half time artist, half time mom
) and I would LOVE to help bring Lady Lovely Locks back in any way I can!! Do you know how to get the rights to this? If I had a chance to make a comic book at least, I would do her justice and not make it all 'new age-y' . I very much detest what they've done to most girls toys these days and the messages they bring. One of the things I love about LL is the pure innocence and sense of fantasy it brought, girls these days really need that!
Anyway, thank you for this site!
I love it!!

Just as a little silly side
Just as a little silly side note, I realized that I've become a Raven Waves. Just like the german audio plays, I was rejected by my prince and let my heart grow cold. If I had a whitch on my side, I would have cursed him into a form of a dog as well. you could say I understand where she's comming from.
a scene came to my mind. What if raven waves wasnt trying to cut lady's hair for it's magic properties (which there are none) but that the prince would no longer love her? Raven waves is torn apart and mad (i think) that the prince turned her down because of the way she looked. She is jelous that Lady has every thing that was promised to her and now wants to destroy it.
What if Raven waves acutaly got to cut lady's hair, destroying her beauty (showing inner beauty instead of just proclaiming it) and lady told it to her strait. "My prince will love me, no matter how I look." (after she saves him) That would be a very stong message that even girls my age have no clue about.
Just some silly thoughts
Ohh!
20th anniversary? That is wonderful! And I would love love for this to happen! Though I agree with much of what has been said, I believe that, in the right hands, it could be amazing!
Those Characters From Cleveland
Just so you're all aware, I am in contact with Those Characters From Cleveland and we are speaking. We shall see.

Hmmmm...
You know, this is quite a nice idea. I think I'll put a call in to American Greetings on Monday. I've recently been appointed president of an animation studio in India and perhaps there is a way for us to be working together. If it ultimately happens it will be because of ladylovelylocks.org. I'll keep you all posted. I will promise everyone that if it does happen, our Lady Lovelylocks will be in caring and loving hands.
Best,

This is exciting news!!! I
This is exciting news!!! I hope everything goes well and turns out to be a success. I read all of the messages posted and it is good to hear that you will keep to the way of Lady LovelyLocks instead of drastically changing things. So thank you!
If their is possibly a series... does that mean a toy line?
It would be absolutely
It would be absolutely AMAZING if this went through! Thank you for all your help Jack.
